A prisoner undergoing treatment at Daudnagar subdivision hospital in Aurangabad, Bihar, died on Friday afternoon. The deceased Amit Singh (33) was a resident of Basadiha village under Kutumba police station area. It is being told that Amit was arrested by the Kutumba police station on July 10 in connection with drinking. On the same day in the evening, he was sent to Aurangabad Divisional Jail in judicial custody. Later he was sent to Daudnagar Sub Divisional Jail from there.
According to the information, his health deteriorated on Thursday in the Daudnagar sub-divisional jail itself. After this he was brought to Aurangabad Sadar Hospital for treatment. On improving his health after treatment, he was sent from Aurangabad to Daudnagar sub-division hospital on Thursday night itself. He was admitted in the prisoner ward in Daudnagar Sub-Divisional Hospital. He was undergoing treatment. After this, his health suddenly deteriorated again on Friday. During this, he died and the doctors of the Sub-Divisional Hospital confirmed his death.
After this the hospital informed the Daudnagar Police and Aurangabad Divisional Jail. Sub-Inspector Sunil Kumar of Daudnagar Police Station reached Anumandal Hospital. The body of the deceased was taken into possession and brought to Aurangabad Sadar Hospital for postmortem.
Deputy Superintendent of Sadar Hospital, Dr. Rajesh Kumar Singh said that the patient was suffering from alcohol withdrawal syndrome. This is the syndrome in which the alcoholic cannot live peacefully without alcohol. He feels suffocated by not drinking alcohol. He was also having trouble breathing. The Medical Board had referred him to Magadh Medical College Hospital, Gaya on Thursday itself. He was later treated for a sudden deterioration in his health, but he died.
